Solar bill moves forward

The president announces a backward energy plan while California moves towards energy independence

Statewide organizations and legislators support Million Solar Roof bill

By a vote of 10-0 SB 1 passes its first hurdle. Co-authors of this groundbreaking legislation include: Senators Alquist, Chesbro, Ducheny, and Kehoe, Assembly Members Bermudez, Chan, Huff, Laird, Leno, Lieber, Maze, Pavley, and Wolk. The measure hopes to generate 1 million solar-powered structures by 2018, via rebates for installing solar units in new and existing homes and businesses. California now has about 12,000 solar units installed, and the cost of a typical home system is about $27,000.

The bill has also been endorsed by the Riverside Press Enterprise, Los Angeles Times and the Sacramento Bee. The official list of organizational support grows daily and the Alliance for Nuclear Responsbility is proud to be among those advocating for a renewable future for our state.
