BROWNS FERRY, Ala. (AP) — The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said yesterday (Tuesday) that the Unit One reactor at Browns Ferry remains offline after an automatic shutdown Saturday.
The agency said the emergency shutdown was caused by a water level reading on one of the unit's turbines and was not planned.
T-V-A has been gradually bringing the reactor, located near Athens, back to full power after it was dormant for 22 years.
The restart began in late May after a one-point-eight (b) billion dollar rebuilding project that took five years.
