A Message from Rochelle

Dear friends,

I love this season of the year where the theme is Thanksgiving. It reminds me of how grateful I am for your support of the Alliance for Nuclear Responsibility and your willingness to share our vision. Each of you has helped ensure that California will analyze the economic impacts of increasing stockpiles of radioactive waste on our coast beyond current license terms.

California made it clear that the problems associated with high-level radioactive waste on our coast needed to be solved before the state would take additional economic risks. The state was assured this problem would be resolved twenty-five years ago. Now hundreds of tons sit on California’s fragile and valuable coast.

You have helped us succeed in upholding California's nuclear safeguard laws. We are especially grateful to the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Sierra Club, Environment California, Planning and Conservation League, CEERT, CALPIRG, and more individuals than we have space to name, who have offered guidance and encouragement.

Thanks to creative supporters who have put on Golf Tournaments (the famous O'Merde Classic), donated birthday gifts to the Alliance, traveled from other states to share perspectives (Diane Wilson and Harvey Wasserman) and to all those who generously given of their time and financial means to further our common goal.

Thank each of you for sending letters, making calls, attending events and hearings, speaking to elected representatives, joining us in Sacramento, and offering words of encouragement for our shared vision.

Together we are making a difference and working for a legacy of home for the future and your support is a gift for which we are most Thankful.

In Peace and appreciation

Rochelle
