May 17th Tuesday CPUC meeting on continuing operation of San Onofre

CPUC Commissioner to hear public comments on expensive component replacements at San Onofre

TUESDAY, MAY 17, 2005 ! YOUR PRESENCE IS VITAL

THOUSANDS OF TONS OF RADIOACTIVE WASTE is DANGEROUSLY PILING UP ON OUR FRAGILE, EARTHQUAKE-PRONE COASTLINE!!

  • You can make a positive difference on California's energy future. You can protect your children, your home, your business by opposing the continued operation of the San Onofre Nuclear Plant. Hundreds of pounds of radioactive waste are being produced everyday. One nuclear accident (or unforeseen attack) could spread radiation at least 500 miles. There is NO PERMANENT PLACE to store San Onofre's radioactive waste.

San Diego County has a nuclear waste dump site in their back yard on a fragile earthquake active coastline. Radioactive isotopes at San Onofre are more powerful than hundreds of HIROSHIMA bombs.

It is not in the best interest of California ratepayers to replace expensive steam generators and continue PRODUCING RADIOACTIVE WASTE which must be stored on our coast. We must STOP THE RE-LICENSING OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS in Southern California until a permanent safe storage solution is in place.

JOIN the Alliance for Nuclear Responsibility and the San Onofre Citizens Council at a public meeting with the CALIFORNIA PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSON. The CPUC wants to hear from you about the economic and environmental impacts of continued operation of the SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT ( Please bring your children & friends!)
