Senator William Monning (D-Santa Cruz) has introduced SB 968 for the 2016 California Legislative year.
This legislation will require Pacific Gas & Electric, under the authority of the California Public Utilities Commission, to perform an analysis of the economic consequences that might impact the host community of San Luis Obispo County in the event of an early or eventual shutdown of the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. Further, it will ask that the study identify mitigating strategies to help the community plan for and cope with any losses that will occur.
